3.30.09 Maelyne gets her medical examination...

Auntie Florence, thank you for the welcome party you are planning for us on April 4th. Can't wait to meet you all... your Chinay niece, Maelyne.

Maelyne has been sleeping well the last few nights. Neither Henry or I have to get up in the middle of the night to do something for her (knock on wood). She has been a very good sleeper, taking at least one nap (up to 2 hours) a day, which we are happy about. She woke up this morning at 6:30 with a smile on her face. How could you not fall in love and get crazy over this little girl? Just melt our hearts away. Usual breakfast at the Coffee Shop. Maelyne has been eating more. I hope she won't become a very chubby kid otherwise it will be a little more challenge to carry her around. We just had enough time to do our morning routine before our 9:00 meeting with the rest of the families. The medical office is a 15 minute walk from the hotel. The weather was on the high 60s so it was nice even without sunshine. We went into a room dedicated to adopted children for the examination. We filled out a form before the doctors can see the babies. There were three examinations done - ENT, Physical exam, and Height/Weight/Temp. We started with the physical with everything normal, then we went to see the ENT doctor, all results on every tests she did on Maelyne are all what's expected, The last room we went in is to get her temperature, weight, and height. She now weighs 8 kg, 71 cm with temperature being normal. I have not figured out the conversions to lbs and inches so you guys can do the math. She cried during this time but she was fine after all the exams were completed.
There was plenty of time to shop again so we went to this one store to buy a suitcase and some chinese outfits for Maelyne (different sizes). The salesguy was very helpful and even calling us "my friend" coz he can see I was buying a lot. After he added up the prices, i started to apply my bargaining skills. In the end when we setlled on the final price, he won't call me "my friend" anymore because I was too hard on bargaining, ha, ha. At this time, Maelyne had fallen asleep so we headed back to the hotel. She napped for about an hour and a half. We had lunch again at the Lucy's restaurant. It looks like we will be eating a lot in this restaurant because we seem to like a lot of their menus and there's baby menus, too.
At 2:00 pm, we had a sightseeing at the Six Banyan Temple where Buhdists go and worship there. We walked around to see three giant Buhda's in one temple and more in other temples. We can smell the burning incense everywhere. We saw a few monks and some of us even took pictures with them. Our bus driver took us to the Liwan Plaza or the so called Pearl Market. OMG, there were store after store in multiple levels of pearls and jades. It was overwhelming. We did not know where to begin. Anyway, we bought few pearls to give for Maelyne when she's bigger and some souvenirs. We are now out of Chinese money (they do accept credit cards though but I was not comfortable using it there) so we just window shopped. It was time to go back to the hotel. There was an optional river cruise (with fee) at 6:00 but we passed on this cruise because I usually get sea sick. We instead brought Maelyne down to the Swan Room (play room) and we just let her play with all the Mattel toys that are present in the room. We ordered take out from Lucy's (i told you this is our favorite restaurant) and we just ate in our hotel room. We were too tired to sit down and eat in the restaurant.
