Chinatown - Los Angeles

Our blog for Maelyne...

We created this blog to document our journey in bringing Maelyne home somewhere from China...

Our journey began in July 2005 when we decided we wanted to adopt a baby girl. We definitely want a family! After carefully searching for a dependable and trusted agency, and talking to adoptive parents like Matt and Gina, who are using this agency at the time, we choose CHI (Children's Hope International) to help us with our adoption process. Pete Castiglione is the adoption coordinator for CA and we could not have a better coordinator than this guy. He had helped us in every way in getting the required documents. He was always ready for questions. We met him later when we attended one of his presentations here in San Diego. Our social worker is Darcy Kennedy from Vista Del Mar based in Los Angeles. Darcy is a very nice lady and it's so easy to work with her. We met with her a few times at her home office and work office as well as a visit to our house to complete our homestudy. All went well! After 5 months of paperchasing ( fingerprints, police clearances, medical reports, employment verifications, etc), our dossier was notarized, certified and authenticated by the Chinese Consulate in LA.
DTC (Dossier to China) - 1/20/06
LID (Log in Date) - 3/2/06
Although it took longer than normal to log-in our dossier due to the Chinese New Year, Henry and I are both thrilled and excited to find out about our LID since this date is the official start date to wait for the referral. At this time, we expected an 8-10 months wait but due to an increase of applicants who want to adopt from China, the wait time became longer. It's June 2007 and it is now uncertain as to when we will receive our referral from CCAA. It could be 1 or 2 more years. But no matter how long it takes, we are willing to wait because we just know it will happen. There's one special child waiting for us somewhere in China. So, we need lots of prayers and patience to be strong and hopeful that our referral will arrive soon.

We requested a Non Special Need baby girl from 6 months to 36 months or as young as possible. We will name our baby girl "MAELYNE".
